Numbers 1:1-4:20

Hosea 1:10-2:20

BAMIDBAR WT

This Parashah covers the Israelite census, the order of movement, the Levites duties, the redemption of the first-born, and more.

In this portion we see a great example of how YHVH positions his kingdom and gives roles to the leaders of Israel. I believe that we as His kingdom should learn from this portion how to walk in the role our king calls us do for the kingdom. Walking in Unity does not mean that we have to agree with everything but walking in unity to preserve the Holiness of YHVH should be the lesson learned from this Torah portion.

We also discuss the Priestly order, which is a special office that YHVH gave as a Royal Grant to the Clan of Levi for an Eternal Inheritance. Many people do not realize how important it is for us to be aware of the legality involved in this work of the temple service and what would happen to those who would transgress against the Great King. I will show you some legal terminology found in the book of numbers that will reflect the seriousness of this grant and the consequences found in scriptures that play the role of the witness for us to learn. Korah, Nadad and abihu teaches us about how to respect the Oath, government and Hierarchic order of YHVH and His kingdom.

We will also be discussing the Honorable Role and Status Ascribed to the Levitical order of the Priesthood as well as making the distinctions between the Two Essential Priestly Orders, The Melchitzedek of the Macro-Temple in the Cosmos and The Aaronic/Levitical of the Micro-Temple on the Earth.

I am a teacher of Scriptures, Torah follower, and believer in Messiah Yeshua. I have been given the opportunity to share the Word of God with many believers around the world. My work as a servant of the Most High God has allowed me to be a voice to spread the good news of the New Testament, unveiling its truth through context and the obedience to the Almighty through his Torah.

Hi Rico, thanks for yet another great teaching. We are so jealous that we couldn’t have been in our home country (South Africa) to meet you. We pray that Yah would send you to Australia at some stage. On a lighter note…Like the “Lions” rugby shirt…However a “Bulls” shirt would have looked better :-).

Blessings to you and your family. Shalom Pieter

  2. Thank you Rico for all your work, the material you present is priceless. I loved learning about the importance of names and what they mean, especially when it comes to a woman’s name and that another message is being given through those meanings. Thank you for reiterating that Abraham was neither Jew nor Gentile but Hebrew. It was also interesting to find that Judah was the positioned guard before the threshold of the tabernacle… I didn’t realize that the area the camp covered was 80 square miles! That the outer 4 corners were reserved for the livestock was news to me too. It would be awesome to see those banners and people moving as one.

Thank you for learning how to approach our King and then teaching us the protocol that it’s important to render honor to the King. What I got out of this message was that we render honor by dwelling together in unity, maybe not always of the same opinion, but in unity nonetheless. I pray you continue in the will of YHVH, that He would bless you and yours mightily and that your names be found in the book of life.

    Shalom

  3. Shalom,

I really enjoyed this teaching. I found myself wondering some things:

    1. Could the layout of the camps relate to the gates in Revelation 21? It sounds like there are 3 gates on each of the 4 sides.

    2. Based on what we are told about the order they were to prepare to march, it goes clockwise around the tabernacle. Do we have any idea which direction they marched around Jericho?

    3. Back to question 1, are the measurements similar? Is the New Jerusalem 144 square miles?

    4. Does the layout of the tribes correlate to the order Jacob put them in when going to meet Esau? You mentioned that there is a theory that they stayed in that formation when the marched. This would always have Rachel’s children in the back. Also, I noticed that Leah’s children received the most honorable positions. Interesting.

    5. To enter the tabernacle, you had to turn your back on the Sun. So, is it really appropriate to face east when reciting the Shema?

    Shalom,

    Kate

Another question please. A lay minister associated with the Kairos Prison Ministry in Avon Park questioned me and then later wrote me a letter telling me which “tribe”
He was from, at first I laughed to myself but later thought he is Spanish and his last name is Lamb but his “tribe” was “Corderro” (so he told me). I want to tell him about the Sephardic tribes who were forced to convert and you used a Hebrew word in B’midbar on Shabbat I cannot spell or look it up. Could you please write me how to spell it? I think I have a “fish” on the line. He seems curious and is not belligerent. I need more info to help him along. Thank you again. Shalom

    Rico,

We so love spending time every Sabbath and listening and learning from you. Thank you for your teachings and time you share with us. This is a Blessing from YHVH.
I do have a question for you, what book are you reading from? Is it the Okinos or something entirely different? I am getting ready to start buying many of the books you use for our library as well…

    Shalom,

    Lisa

  7. Shalom Rico!

    Another great teaching. THANK YOU!

In the last few minutes of part 1 you mentioned “Miriam’s well” as part of the Rabbinic tradition. It can be viewed as another prophecy of Messiah, our Living Water, born to us from another Miriam centuries later. Both “Wells” have kept us alive, sustained us and privileged us to reach this season of spiritual awakening, taking us from slaves to the world system to becoming fully functioning members /ambassadors of YHVH’s kingdom. Just thought I’d share … ;D

One of the other neat things that occurs to me with this parashah is that in chapter 1, it is the adult, military-age men that are counted. The other side of the coin is that if you are not willing to fight for Israel, you don’t get counted! Unfortunately, as you pointed out, most in Israel are willing to fight others in Israel (I guess we are softer targets than the enemy!) Anyway …. Hugs to all the family. Hope to see you in Lake City soon. Love in Messiah, Yocheved

  8. Rico I have bought just about everything in the resource section except the major book collection series…There is still alot of books behind you in your study that would be godly in sharing knowledge …. or are they not significant for study in hebraic roots
    love you brother….

Question for you Rico; The Rabbi’s wear the hats you wear but I can’t find it in Torah that says men are to wear a Yarmukul ? (can’t spell it) I’ve been told not to follow the Rabbi’s because they have added to and taken away from the Torah. Please correct me. Barb G

    1. Shalom
You are right the bible does not say to wear a kippa for everything but it does tell the sons of Aaron to cover their heads and I am a Levi so when I teach the torah I like to cover my head. Wearing the Kippa is a tradition and I have no problem with it as long as it does not become the focus and does away with a commandment. You are right you only follow what the Rabbis say only when they agree with Scriptures.

  10. Rico Im studying my tail off and I appreciate and will always remember the teachings and especially the passion you have…Thank you for helping us become fisherman not just eating the fish…with that could you take 5min and point out what books you have behund you, Im trying to see whats in your study and can make out some of them from your list of of resources but alot of them I cantthat would be yahly(godly) thanks my friend…

  11. Interesting that you mentioned that there are 9 names that include “El” and 3 names that include “Shaddai.” Since the total of Israelites that were counted for military service was 603550, I came up with a couple of weird calculations that showed those two numbers as a result: (6+0-3+5-5+0 =[3]) & (6-0+3-5+5-0 =[9]) Then you have the total number of first born L’vi’im being 22,273 with an extra 273. (2+2-2+7-3 =[6]) & (2+7+3=[12]) So you have the numbers 12,3,6,9 which are in sequence clockwise every 3 hours. It’s the 34th Parashah so 3×4=12 hours. The camp was commanded to be set up by 3 tribes in 4 directions clockwise by I AM. Maybe this is why I’ve been seeing the number 34 for about 12 years now.. I’m trippin’ man! Don’t pay too much attention to me lol =P
