a quick question about the blessing over the candles in the erev shabbat ceremony: it says, “and has commanded us to light the sabbath candle,” but where does that command come from? i understand the basic symbolism of light in scripture but am not certain as to how to understand the “command” part. Seeing as how the process is rooted in temple protocol i was thinking maybe it was related to the golden lampstand (Exodus 25,27) but am uncertain at this point.
