Leviticus 12:1 - 15:33

2 Kings 4:42 - 5:19, 7:3-20

tazria

This week's Torah Portion focuses on the laws associated with ritual impurity and how to cleanse one's self from such impurity. It is important to remember that even though a so-called 'sin' sacrifice is brought, it is not because the offerer committed a moral sin, but simply because of the prolonged impurity which brings defilement to YHVH's altar.

While many may shy away from this portion because of the graphic nature of some of the impurities, this portion actually contains within it a greater understanding of the work of Yeshua in how he restores fallen man from a state of living death to immortal life. I pray this portion is a blessing to you.

This page includes Torah Portions from multiple years covered by Wisdom in Torah. Each year we covered the Torah from a different perspective so you can explore each Parashah from a different perspective and focus.

  • 2010 Portions: Focus on Messianic connections in the Parashah
  • ANET Portions: Focus on the ancient Near Eastern cultural context of the Parashah
  • Mitzvot Portions: Focus on explaining and exploring the commandments found in the Parashah (in progress)
  • 2015 Portions: Revisiting the Parashah looking at the ancient cultural context more in depth with additional areas that have been researched
  • Brit Portions: Focus on connecting the Brit Hadashah (New Testament) to the Parashah

I am a teacher of Scriptures, Torah follower, and believer in Messiah Yeshua. I have been given the opportunity to share the Word of God with many believers around the world. My work as a servant of the Most High God has allowed me to be a voice to spread the good news of the New Testament, unveiling its truth through context and the obedience to the Almighty through his Torah.

Shalom Ryan, I have a question could their be a connection or type in shadow between Yeshua and king Uzziah? I know king Uzziah committed Ma’al by trying to act like a kohen and serve in the temple where He had no authority and Maybe I’m just over thinking it but I found it odd that the messiah is thought to be a leper and we find that an actual king of Judah is struck with leprosy.

  2. I apologize if this was covered and I missed it (also couldn’t get the nugget or mitzvot to play so it may have been discussed there), but I wonder if when the priest examines a leper does he become unclean in the process or because he is acting in priestly duty does he remain clean? If they do become unclean I find it moving and reflective of Yeshua that they would go through that in service to Elohim, the tabernacle/ temple, and Israel. In any case thank you so much for all the teachings and efforts. I appreciate it deeply and it is very helpful to me. Shalom

  3. This is an amazing teaching. I prayed for understanding as I was reading the Torah portion this mornng. It made no sense to me. Now, it is AMAZING and full of meaning. Thanks so much. May Yah bless you richly. Your have blessed me.

  4. Are we not all lepers? – our aging skin finally decaying. But we will be clean and can rejoin the camp at the 8th day. We are lepers, but will minister as priests when our consecration is complete – at the 8th day. We have touched death, but we are washed and will be “clean” at sundown of the 7th day, which is the beginning of the 8th day.

  5. Matt. 15:30, the lame, blind, mute, maimed were healed yet still the Pharisees and Sadducees came asking for “a sign.” They saw the signs of Isa. 35, but they wanted to see ALL of the prophecy of Isa. 35 fulfilled – then they would “believe”. Isaiah 35 describes the LORD coming for “vengence” and then the land restored to its fertile state. Even the disciples asked, “Will you at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?” I only recently realized what “sign” they wanted to see.

  6. The infant in utero shares the blood of the mother – receives oxygen from her blood. ANY hormones in the mother’s blood are shared with the infant. A male WOULD be influenced by the hormone level of his mother. (NOTE:
Petroleum products mimick estrogen and so can cause birth defects.) Female infants would have pseudomenses (making them “unclean”), responding to drop in estrogen level after birth. Male infants would not – even though their hormone levels would also drop. (43 years as nurse and nurse anesthetist, ICU-OB-Anesthesia) Shalom

  7. Shalom Rico,
Yes, your pronunciation of some words does make me chuckle. But, your wisdom and diligent research and studying is much appreciated! I learn so much from you sharing what you have found. I encourage you to continue in Elohiyms’s work of spreading the Good News! Thank you for encouraging us in our own studies as well.
    Thank you and Shabbat Shalom!

  8. Awesome teachings this week. For another 1 hr teaching that will shed “even more light” on the prophet meaning of how Tazria & Metzorah are related and the prophetic seed message in the difference of the days of purification for a male child & female child can be found here. Brittney Scott brings new depth to our understanding and the reason these two Torah Parashah are connected. And yes, there is definately a message of the seal which is directly related to circumcision thus why it is critical and why Yahweh made it plan as day so there would be no confusion as to the reason for males to be circumcised before eating the Passover meal which then directs us to Shavuot and the receiving of the Spirit.

We in this qahal really appreciate your sacrifice that enables us to learn Torah, Praise be to YHWH for a humble and willing spirit.

You have given both sides of the coin without condemning either; you have shown resources to broaden our understanding. We learn to take into account both sides and not be judgemental, and you are a living example by the Ruach HaKodesh who Yahushua sent to lead us into all truth.

Baruk ata YHWH Eoloheynu Malek ha olam b’Shem Yahushua HaMashiach.
