Genesis 32:3 - 36:43

Obadiah 1:1-21

Vayishlach

This Parashah covers Jacob's return to the land. This week's Torah portion is very prophetic for us in this last days, it connects the move of Islam with the life of Esau. The parallels with what is going on around us in amazing and you know that what happened to our fathers will happen to us. This torah portion is about understanding the life of Jacob so that we can recognize the end time prophecies.

Have you ever wondered "why" the story of Jacob wrestling with the Messenger is placed here in the text of Chapter 32 immediately after Jacob sends the tribute to Esau? We will cover these areas and continue to elaborate on the importance of legality found within Scripture.

Have you realized that current events involving the Land of Israel are linked to this Torah Portion

  1. In my NIV bible, Gen. 32:24 says that its a man who wrestles with Jacob, not an angel or messenger as other passages of scripture that you referenced. I also have a Hebrew Roots translation and it also says “Man”. I’m confused. Why is the word in this verse say “Man” and not “Angel” or “Messenger”?

  2. Dear Rico,
I thank YAHWEH each and every day for a teacher,a councelor such a you. Each day when my daughter and I do the Amidah…the section regarding “judges”…restoring Judges and councelors as at first….we include prayers for protection and blessing, sustainance for you and your family. You don’t have to “ask for a pat on the back”… and I know you aren’t BUT I do know YAHWEH is carrying you because many of us have very little besides this wealth of knowledge you are attempting (and doing a great job) to empart. Thank You YAHWEH! Thank you Rico. Thank you to your family because I know it takes alot of time “away” from them. Shabbat Shalom.

  3. The Torah Portion Vayishlach (32:3 – 36:43) is an awesome teaching. I have been moving throughout the scriptures as you teach Rico. The discussion on the “angel of Yahweh” was very enlightening and I am glad to be able to learn the truth about the scriptures and how the scriptures apply to us today. We need to keep Yahweh’s instructions as a doer in our lives today. Keeping teaching us the truth!

    SHALOM

  4. Thanks for all your hard work in bringing these Torah portions to us. I’m learning a lot. This teaching along with the others has helped me to understand the prophecies much better. I have since thrown out all end-time theologies such as Tim LaHaye’s Left Behind, Dr. Sutton and others.
    Shalom,
    Hananyah

  5. Thanks for all hard work and study Rico…really great teaching today…May Yahweh bless and keep. We share with many people in West Monroe, LA what we are learning…looking for those who have ears to hear…The visit you made recently is still bearing fruit…

  6. Once again…great teachings! I have only one matter that needs clarity. You mentioned that Job’s friend Eliphaz the Tamenite puts Job’s life in line with that of Israel. Here I find a contradiction…

Gen 36:43 …Esau was the father of the Edomites. (therefore Eliphaz here in Genesis was an Edomite, not a Temanite).

However, Eliphaz bore a son named Teman which would make any of HIS sons Temanites as the Strong’s suggests:

    1Ch 1:45 And when JobabH3103 was dead,H4191 HushamH2367 of the landH4480 H776 of the TemanitesH8489 reignedH4427 in his stead.H8478

    H8489
    תּימני
    têymânı̂y
    tay-maw-nee’
Patronymic from H8487; a Temanite or descendant of Teman: – Temani, Temanite.

This would make the Eliphaz in Job as an ancestor of Teman (who was an Edomite) and not the same Eliphaz that is Esau’s son. Wouldn’t you agree? I would submit that perhaps Teman named a child after his father??

But far and wide the best moment in the teaching was the photo op :)…I’ve sent it to you via email with the subject “Torah Photo Op!” You should add it to the site!!

    Shalom Brother Rico!

  7. I have listened to part one and it is so exciting. I take lots of notes and mark my Bible and want to thank you Rico. This is so cool to be able to for the first time in my life, go through the portions. “Yahoo Yahwey, You’re word is so alive.” I get this slow speed but actually am enjoying that because I can listen as it comes in and rewind to hear it again while more is coming. It’s like the anticipation of eating a yummy dessert. The best is always saved for last… SMILE <3
