The 2012-13 Torah Portions in light of the Ancient Near East Customs and Context. We are going to be studying the Torah and focusing on the countries that surrounded Israel. By searching for context we will be able to have a better understanding of the ancient legal covenant and the conditions in which the ancient world understood covenants. In this portion we will see the patterns of Suzerain, Grant and Covenant Lawsuit being establish by YHVH in the opening of the book of Genesis. The ancient world did not invent anything, it was YHVH that created and set up the system of government and conditions of Covenant found in the Ancient Near East.

The 2014- 2015 cycle we will being laying the foundation for Genesis 1-3 being the establishment of YHWH's Macro-Temple in the Cosmos.
Remember that Moshe is shown the pattern of the Heavenly Temple for instructing on how to build the Earthly Tabernacle. We see evidence of this all though out the Bible, including the First Century Writings. With this being the case, I believe it is safe to say the we should be able to see that YHWH would show mankind the template of HIS Macro Temple in the Covenant Text prior to the pattern or microcosm of it extending to the Earth. My hope is that after seeing the evidence in this week's torah portion as well as the upcoming full series on the Macro-Temple of YHWH in the Cosmos, is that we will have a much clearer understanding of Scripture from Genesis 1 to Revelation 22 indeed being a Temple Text, a Text that is written in Temple Language.

The Brit Portion for this week's reading comes from the book of Revelation chapters 20-22 and we will be talking about the prophetic message of the restoration of Order from the cosmic chaos. A cosmological perspective to the creation story and how it develops in the Scriptures. Shabbat as the climax of the creation week and the same story is repeated in the book of Revelation chapters 20-22. Finally, Yah restores his kingdom, people, bring Shalom and establishes his Sovereignty, kingship and dominion over his creation by dwelling and Resting with us.

I am a teacher of Scriptures, Torah follower, and believer in Messiah Yeshua. I have been given the opportunity to share the Word of God with many believers around the world. My work as a servant of the Most High God has allowed me to be a voice to spread the good news of the New Testament, unveiling its truth through context and the obedience to the Almighty through his Torah.

  1. Shabbat Shalom!

Rico, Amazing! Simply Amazing! The way YHVH is teaching you to bring HIS good news to the nations. Now, I have a question regarding the “Alef-Tav” = “Memra”.

Could one rightlfully assume that the writers of the 1st century writings were familiar with this idiom for “Memra”(Alef-Tav=Alpah-Omega)? …And…That the Greek/Latin/English translators didn’t know what it was/meant therefore they used their idiom for “self” as in person of the flesh? And since it was a reference to Messiah, they didn’t understand or know the significance of “Memra” and thus its meaning was poured out into the muddy waters awaiting its return to the pure mountaintop? [I stole that last reference from Brad’s teaching 😉 Between you & Brad, I get very little quilting/sewing done these days ]

Just wondering what you think. Hope you & your family are having a wonderful Shabbat. We’re off to a 50th Wedding Anniversary as soon as the truck lands in the yard from the west coast. I am going to be surrounded by Lutheran pastors(yes many closely related). Please say a prayer to YHVH for me, for YHVH to help me to curb my toungue that only HIS Words come out?

    Linda

  2. Shalom Rico:

Do you know of an existing Bible that gives the words in Hebrew and the pronunciation of the same words written out below so that a non-Hebrew speaking person such as myself can read the Hebrew as it should be read?

Hearing it (as an audio file ) would not be good because I can’t see the words as it is been read by a Hebrew reading/speaking individual. I hope you got my question!

Also, Rico, if you could give the sources (and the spelling) that you are using for your teaching that would also be helpful. You occasionally do! I am also excited about my Father’s words I want to do everything possible to adhere and learn all that I possibly can about our Heavenly Father.

    Shalom
    Thanks again Rico

    PS
Anyone reading my comments/question and knows of such a Bible can also send me the name of the Bible and where it could be purchased I would appreciate it very much. My email address is:ciscourse@hotmail.com

  3. Shalom Rico. My family and I are watching your first Torah Portion video, and we were wondering if you had a list of references that you use in the Talmud. Specifically the one about if Israel was not worthy, that Messiah would come on a donkey. And that if they were worthy, He would come on a horse. Todah Rabah 😀

  4. Shalom Rico – I’ve been listening to your first torah portion for Gen 1:1-6:8. The Hebrew word for “man” in Gen 5:1 is “adam” not “iysh”. The Hebrew word “iysh” is not found in Gen 5. The Hebrew word “iysh” is in chapter 2, 3, 4, & 6 but not 5. The first occurrence of “iysh” in torah is Gen 2:23. I’m really enjoying your torah portions. I love the Hebrew torah. shabbat shalom!

  5. Starting a week or so late, but as I expected, Rico, you never disappoint. I am so excited to be in on the blessing. Think I will send my brain in to have the seams let out a little.
Not haveing much luck opening part 2 and three. I will keep trying.
    Shalom

  7. Just started my fifth time through the Torah. I am delighted to have someone go through it with me. Appreciate your hard work Rico. So many things I have not understood before but this time through some questions are being answered.

  8. Todah, todah, todah Rico. This is awesome! Yahweh is going to pour out His blessings on you for sharing with the brotherhood. And you have made it affordable for even someone who has been unemployed for quite a while, such as yours truly.

  9. Thank you Rico for taking us through the Torah, I have learned so much more in these 1st 3 hours. What a blessing, I am so looking forward to the next session.
