Rico Cortes

I am a teacher of Scriptures, Torah follower, and believer in Messiah Yeshua. I have been given the opportunity to share the Word of God with many believers around the world. My work as a servant of the Most High God has allowed me to be a voice to spread the good news of the New Testament, unveiling its truth through context and the obedience to the Almighty through his Torah.

  1. SHALOM RICO, I love this series and am looking forward to your future studies. I am wondering if it would be possible to offer class handouts, that we could print off as we study with you. I have found this feature on chabad.org in some video studies. They use text, commentary and summary. Just a thought for those of us who learn by visual rather than just audio. YOU ARE SUCH A BLESSING TO THE BODY OF MESSIAH. I pray for you and your family daily.

  2. Thank you guys so much for answering! I have been trying to be such a sponge for the Torah, an dsoak up as much as I can! Yah is so awesome. I will read Ryan’s article and hopefully get more understanding. As I read your responses, I wonder about The temple where His Name is placed, and the sacrifices made by the patriarchs, like when they’d sacrificed to Yah or build Him an alter, BEFORE they were in Jerusalem. oh man, The more you know the more you DONT know! I am so thankful for my membership to this blog and all the teaching available! So much better than watching tv, lol, I watch Rico every night and learn! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!

  3. Shalom g_stamsos,
Shabbat shalom and welcome to Rico’s forum.
Jewish people still believe in Messiah, they just don’t believe it was Yeshua because all the prophecies concerning Him were not completed during His first coming. The rest of the prophecies will be filled during His second coming, ironically they include the recognition and acceptance of Yeshua as HaMeshiach (The Messiah) by the House of Judah.
The sacrifices conducted at the altar where YHVH placed His name are no longer made because the altar is non-existent (same for the Temple). To make sacrifices elsewhere is strictly forbidden in Torah.
The sacrifices/gifts that were made at the Holy Altar were not for the purpose of salvation but to bring the offender back into oneness with YHVH. Sadly, many people today are mistaken in their understanding of temple sacrifices. Many people believe that the sacrifices conducted on the altar were a means of attaining salvation and that these then were done away with when Yeshua died “once and for all” and now sacrifices are no longer needed.
It is this subject that is very near and dear to the heart of Rico and he has many messages regarding this. For a brief but comprehensive explanation of terms, check out Ryan’s article regarding the two part answer to sin and sacrifices (http://www.torahteachers.com/Animal-Sacrifice.pdf). Also, both Rico’s site and Lion & Lamb Ministries (Monte Judah) have Rico’s teachings regarding Temple Service. You might also find some freebies on yah-tube.com/ .
Of course, we here on the forum love to answer all questions, we are all in states of learning. 🙂
    Shabbat Shalom!

  4. Shalom g_stamsos,

    Welcome to the forums!!!

First off there is no such thing as a dumb question! I would venture to say that most people out there are either in the same boat as you and don’t know much about sacrifices, or they just blindly believe what they were taught in a church that “Jesus was the end of all sacrifices” and therefore there is no need to sacrifice or even study sacrifices.

The church’s view on sacrifices is the product of centuries of anti-semetic doctrines be introduced by people such as Marcion and Martyr. In the first 300 years after the death of the disciples, there was a huge push by the “gentile” Christian’s (especially those who studied Greek philosophers) to remove everything Jewish from the church. A quick review of the New Testament writings would show anyone willing to pay attention that Paul continued to sacrifice at the temple after his meeting with Yeshua, as did the rest of the disciples.

Now, to answer your question, Jewish people do not sacrifice right now, just as they did not sacrifice while in the Babylonian captivity. The reason is because according to Torah, the only place you are allowed to sacrifice is in Jerusalem in the temple at a Scripturally “kosher” altar (on a side note, sacrifices could be done at a “kosher” altar in Jerusalem while the temple is being built). Thus since there is no temple and no altar currently, nobody is allowed to sacrifice. If you read Ezekial chapters 40 through 48 though, you will see that when Messiah Yeshua returns to earth, He will build the temple and sacrifices will resume!!

It would take quite a bit of space to explain why sacrifices will resume, so let me point you to an article that I wrote with the help of Teresa (the other moderator). It is a PDF that is about 12 pages and should thoroughly answer your question. If you have further questions though, don’t be afraid to post them, there are many on this forum that would love to help you out.

    Shalom,

  5. I have a question that may be kinda dumb but im sure someone here knows the answer and I don’t… If non-messianic jewish people don’t believe in Yeshua, do they still do sacrifices? And if not, why?
