Numbers 30:1-32:42

Jeremiah 1:1-2:3

matot WT

This Parashah covers vows made by women, the war against Midian, the return from the war, the disposition of the booty and captives, the conquest and division of the Transjordan area, and the oath made by the two and a half tribes settling in Transjordan.

This Portion is by far one of the most complex and hard to understand for us here in the western world. I did some reading on the Mishnah Tractates to get a first century understanding on the subject matter. Also, there are many verses that really talks about this, but because we do not live a in a Hebraic culture sometimes we miss the significance of Vows and Oaths, and the seriousness of the topic we are covering this Shabbat.

This page includes Torah Portions from multiple years covered by Wisdom in Torah. Each year we covered the Torah from a different perspective so you can explore each Parashah from a different perspective and focus.

  • 2010 Portions: Focus on Messianic connections in the Parashah
  • ANET Portions: Focus on the ancient Near Eastern cultural context of the Parashah
  • Mitzvot Portions: Focus on explaining and exploring the commandments found in the Parashah (in progress)
  • 2015 Portions: Revisiting the Parashah looking at the ancient cultural context more in depth with additional areas that have been researched
  • Brit Portions: Focus on connecting the Brit Hadashah (New Testament) to the Parashah

I am a teacher of Scriptures, Torah follower, and believer in Messiah Yeshua. I have been given the opportunity to share the Word of God with many believers around the world. My work as a servant of the Most High God has allowed me to be a voice to spread the good news of the New Testament, unveiling its truth through context and the obedience to the Almighty through his Torah.

    My comments:
We in Orthodox Judaism understand holiness and the Holiness of Shabbat a lot more than any other religious “group/movement”. So yes, it is not just “out of tradition” it is purely out of understanding G-D.
Head coverings aren’t “Rabbinical” they are plainly commanded. In order to have Yachdut Israel (Unity of Israel) it is common practice throughout every sect of Judaism to wear Kippot. Heresy/Heretics is anything outside of Orthodoxy. Rav Sha’ul, Ya’akov and Y’shua were all Orthodox, and on a MUCH higher spiritual plane than we could ever imagine having not only the Temple, but being Sabres and living during Spiritual breakthroughs on all Mystical levels.
Submitting to the “M’shikim/Anointed Ones” is to be submitted to G-D. Israel is a nation, and it belongs to Yahudah. The Rabbis are technically and Hebraically understood as follows: Judges(Shofetim), Leaders, Princes, Rabbis, Servants, Priests, Counselors, Generals, Elohim(Gods/Judges). Yes, “elohim”. That means that Torah enforces what they declare. And in my study and walk in Judaism, they have it right and sadly our Messianic brethren (broade stroke for 99.99%) think they are a bunch of man-made dogmatic religious rules and ideas rooted no where in Scripture, when the sad thing about it all is they are the gentiles…………
We need to walk through the “rites of passage stage” INTO Isreal, not try and make a new Israel in the gallut……

    Shabbat shalom, y’all!

  2. The feminists in US; were as a death blow to marriage, I remember young women were leaving their husbands and children behind to “go find their real selves”. It’s been totally degrading, dishonoring, and disrespectful to males. The communist manifesto plan was 1) to undermine all males in authority; and we have seen a steady decline in how we speak obout male leadership, Presidents, gover’t officials, clergy, law officers, teachers, professors, (since ’60’s) our country took a real blow, has not recovered from it;

Protocal brings honor and respect (it’s done in the miliary) and Torah properly taught can bring protocol honor and respect back to between males and females. I am very please when I hear married ministry teams; guard their marriage through protocal that Ricco speaks of. To safeguard and protect; the Covenants, Shabbat; our marriages and families is essential. It was the goal of communists to break up the family.

  4. Thank you for this teaching which has convicted me that I have not allowed my husband to have his proper place in our marriage .:) he will be so glad when I repent when he gets home today.I am wondering biblicaly if I have done the same with my married son. Him and his wife have complained that I dont respect their parenting choices. While I do most of them there have been a few that would harm the child later in life ,change who they are .Cause issues when they are older if behavior continues .Am I based on scripture supposed to be silent on those as well ?
