In this portion we will see the patterns of Suzerain, Grant and Covenant Lawsuit being establish by YHVH in the opening of the book of Genesis. The ancient world did not invent anything, it was YHVH that created and set up the system of government and conditions of Covenant found in the Ancient Near East.

The 2012-13 Torah Portions in light of the Ancient Near East Customs and Context. We are going to be studying the Torah and focusing on the countries that surrounded Israel. By searching for context we will be able to have a better understanding of the ancient legal covenant and the conditions in which the ancient world understood covenants.

The 2014- 2015 cycle we will being laying the foundation for Genesis 1-3 being the establishment of YHWH's Macro-Temple in the Cosmos.
Remember that Moshe is shown the pattern of the Heavenly Temple for instructing on how to build the Earthly Tabernacle. We see evidence of this all though out the Bible, including the First Century Writings. With this being the case, I believe it is safe to say the we should be able to see that YHWH would show mankind the template of HIS Macro Temple in the Covenant Text prior to the pattern or microcosm of it extending to the Earth. My hope is that after seeing the evidence in this week's torah portion as well as the upcoming full series on the Macro-Temple of YHWH in the Cosmos, is that we will have a much clearer understanding of Scripture from Genesis 1 to Revelation 22 indeed being a Temple Text, a Text that is written in Temple Language.

The Brit Portion for this week's reading comes from the book of Revelation chapters 20-22 and we will be talking about the prophetic message of the restoration of Order from the cosmic chaos. A cosmological perspective to the creation story and how it develops in the Scriptures. Shabbat as the climax of the creation week and the same story is repeated in the book of Revelation chapters 20-22. Finally, Yah restores his kingdom, people, bring Shalom and establishes his Sovereignty, kingship and dominion over his creation by dwelling and Resting with us.

I am a teacher of Scriptures, Torah follower, and believer in Messiah Yeshua. I have been given the opportunity to share the Word of God with many believers around the world. My work as a servant of the Most High God has allowed me to be a voice to spread the good news of the New Testament, unveiling its truth through context and the obedience to the Almighty through his Torah.

  1. I listen to teachers like you Rico (thank yo so much), Brad Scott, Ryan White, Daniel. I also listen to Rabbi Gordon of Chabad.org who reads the complete Torah cycle. Yeah, I know, it’s Rabbinic.

  2. Just a suggestion, but when Yeshua quotes, ‘You shall not test the Lord your G-d”, it is more autoritive if we used the Hebrew for LORD YHVH your Elohim (Creator); as snake HaSatan are creations of His, therefore having the highest authority. HaSatan is just a mere snake in the grass, lowly crawling on it’b belly. Just an idea

  3. Yes, single people have cooties, we are unclean and cause trouble. If marriage is strong, doesn’t matter. If the marriage is in weak place, can be just as many singles who encourage and turn the wife/husband back to their marriage vows. Much depends of the character of the single which should be well know to the married people.

A married male or female friend is just the same; it is always a test to the married person.

  5. Fantastic Daniel. You are correct we must have context of the culture and people of the ancient times. Hoping your teaching went extrodinary well at Feast of Tabernacles.

  6. I have a gentile friend who is connecting to the world and he doesn’t know how to find Adonai. Angel finds his passion in the music world. I see that God is calling him, but I don’t know how to connect him to Torah as he isn’t in the church yet. Do you have a teaching to draw the lost back to Torah? Is there a link for this?

    1. Unfortunately, there isn’t a magic wand or verse to pull someone in to anything.. Just live as an example, and show and example the truth; expose and shun the lies and with joy, people will be drawn to The King. “Rejoice in YHWH always, and again I say…. Rejoice in the trials.” heh… 🙂

  7. Brother Rico, Do you have a CD of your songs? The intro song I heard here, Me Chamoecha, is so anointed. I can tell you love Adonai when you sing. It’s not the voice itself that I hear, but your heart and the loving devotion you hold for Adonai that speaks to my heart and spirit. Shalom, DeVora Clark:)

  8. Daniel–you really rolled out meaning as you got into this teaching. In our fellowship during Sukkot we really got into discussing the New Jerusalem coming down from heaven. Now you bring in the ‘bookend’ so to speak from a fresh perspective–the micro temple–and wow! the cycle does become complete and yes–Yeshua is and will restore all to perfect order!! This is exciting! Where can we get the complete story that you didn’t have time to teach this morning?

  9. Shalom Rico…I came to this teaching as I do not see this portion for 2012 [It goes from Deuteronomy 33 to Genesis 6:4-11]. Great teaching and I would like to thank you for the time you are taking to break the Holy Scriptures down! Lot’s to research and meditate on!

***ONE QUESTION: Where do you get 120 Jubilees from? When I go back to the Hebrew this is what I get for the word that was transliterated into “year.” *** The 120 x 50 [Juilee years] = 6,000 makes perfect sense…but I don’t see it in the Hebrew…am missing something?!?
