Exodus 6:2 - 9:35

Ezekiel 28:25 - 29:21

VAERA WT

This Parashah covers the plagues upon Egypt. In this Torah Portion we will learn about the legal right of YHVH to declare war and bring judgement to Egypt for the treatment of the Hebrews by the Egyptians. The Lawsuit or "Rib" which means controversy or contention was a well known process of the Ancient Near East and also Scriptures.
Judges 11: 10-22 would be a great example of an international lawsuit against an enemy and the outcome. Moses serves as the messenger of the King to give an opportunity to Pharaoh to let Israel go and serve their King. I pray the teaching will give you a deeper insight into the Ancient Near East understanding of a legal Judgement against Egypt.

    I am a teacher of Scriptures, Torah follower, and believer in Messiah Yeshua. I have been given the opportunity to share the Word of God with many believers around the world. My work as a servant of the Most High God has allowed me to be a voice to spread the good news of the New Testament, unveiling its truth through context and the obedience to the Almighty through his Torah.

    1. What a great tie in with the Brit regarding the hardness of the heart!! Thank you for making it so much clearer and easier to understand the situation with Pharoah. Your teaching was a blessing! !

    2. I have the book (PATTERNS of EVIDENCE EXODUS ) and also saw the movie . Great work that TIMOTHY P. MAHONEY did. There is more in the book then in the movie. I wish everyone could get the book. GREAT.

    3. Torah Team;

      if you have not yet seen the DVD “Patterns of Evidence” for Exodus; you should get it; can order off internet. Give archeological evidence for Israel being in Eqypt; why we have not seen it, and a re calculation of when this happened. Is very excellant, well worth the $20 or $15. I saw the premeire in Denver years ago; before Michael Rood promoted it. Way Kool !

    4. Thank you so very much, Rico, for your teachings. I have no fellowship to attend, but I have a neighbor who often comes for reading the torah portion with me on Shabbat. We discuss it and pray. Sometimes we listen to you or Monte Judah. My neighbor LOVES to hear the blessing. It always brings tears to her eyes. I listen to many teachers even when no one is here along with reading the portion for the week. So thank you again

    5. This 31st of December was the first time I do not receive the “New Year” of the Western culture and nothing out of this world happened. For the last year (2014-2015) I have taken upon myself to observe YHWH’s appointed times to meet with us. I love YHWH Elohim and His Torah!

    6. Shalom. I have question that is not connected to the current Torah portion but since I don’t know how to address the questions on different topics, I’m addressing it here.
      The topic is communion and Shabbat meal/Kiddush. I know that catholic church has incorporated pagan ritual called ‘Omophagia’. Dionysus or Bacchus feasts which was celebrated by crushing the fruit of the vine and drinking the scarlet lifeblood pressed from its flesh. or dismembering the animal which represented Dionysus, and worshipers would tear the bull to pieces with their hands and teeth. This was a communion in the god’s own body and blood – to become like the god, they had to consume the god. In Brit Hadasha Y’shua talks about “communion” only in context of pesah seder. BUT what about weekly Shabbat fellowship where also bread and wine are shared? What is difference between shbbat kidush and communion as we know it from Brit hadasha?

    8. Shalom! I’m glad I got to review your videos again today, Rico. A yeshiva student wants to come on my radio show and “help” me understand the Book of Revelation according to an Orthodox Jew! Now, I will be ready to relate this revelation with the Book of Exodus. I had not made that connection before, until listening again to your wonderful teaching. Thank you!
