This Parashah covers the bad report given by the 12 spies sent into the land as well as laws concerning various offerings.
This week's Torah Portion deals with the huge mistake the spies committed by speaking badly about the Land of our King. We will cover the legality and reasons why YHVH was justified to bring punishment to Israel for speaking against the gift of the Land. We will discuss the real reason for the Tzitzit and what they meant in the Ancient Near East social status. These portions are full of legal context that we have never seeing or studied before.
We will also discuss the importance of action with our faith, the Anakim, and then will mainly focus on Numbers 15 and discussing the rights and responsibilities of the ger (stranger/alien) and how that applies to our lives today as believers in Messiah Yeshua.

Excellent teaching on shlach portion. I am becoming more aquainted with the siddur; last evening read the prayers on forgiveness and I am a few portions behind so shlach was my reading this week. Abba leads us so perfectly, with great reminders of the way we should walk but at the same time guiding us with through scripture that his concept of actions such as forgiveness is not what the present culture teaches. Also obedience and perseverance is not for the faint of heart. Thank you for the time taken to research and present.

Likely way too late for this to be seen but as I continue to ponder this I wonder if you ever have come across a connection between Joshua and Caleb saying they will be our bread and the fact that grasshoppers were the smallest element in the Israelite diet? Also if the part of the grumbling against Moses’ wife specifically mentioning her as cushite, she could ‘ve been very dark… it would be quite the irony of Miriam turning white. Maybe this was at least partially a racial/second class Israelite situation or maybe it’s not.
Yes, several commentaries commented on the fact that the grasshopper was the smallest part of the Israelite diet. That is interesting about Miriam, I had never considered that. Thanks
Shalom Ryan. This is the very best teaching I’ve heard from you and very timely as I discuss my place in Israel as a kidushim. I don’t understand why Messianic JEWS insist on calling me a gentile as a Torah-following Believer in Yeshua. I also have orthodox Jews who say I am NOT a ger b/c a ger is a Jew, therefore I don’t qualify as a Christian to be a ger. That is the Jewish way of keeping Christians who follow Torah OUT of Israel.
I look forward to to fulfillment of Ephesians 2:19 when my legal residence will be Jerusalem, Israel, where both the native and the sojourner can live in Shalom.

I shaved it about a week ago, too hot in florida. plus the beard in this verse in leviticus
26 You shall not eat anything with its blood. You shall not practice augury or witchcraft. 27 You shall not round off the hair on your temples or mar the edges of your beard. 28 You shall not make any gashes in your flesh for the dead or tattoo any marks upon you: I am the LORD.
29 Do not profane your daughter by making her a prostitute, that the land not become prostituted and full of depravity. 30 You shall keep my sabbaths and reverence my sanctuary: I am the LORD.
these verses are in context dealing with Apotropaic rites which deal ritual for the dead.
Fantastic is YeHoVah’s Land, It is Holy. The firelds are ripe, the rivers flow, the people are glad and happy.
!0 tests (footnote in my Bible) – either not literal but an expression of the Israelites repeated acts of rebellion or 10 specific tests – fear at the Red Sea (Ex 14:10-12), two demands for water (Ex 15″24, 17:2,3) two demands for food (Ex 16:3, Nu 11:4-6), twice disregarding YHWH’s instructions regarding manna (Ex 16:20,27) the incident with golden calf (Ex 32:1-25), discontent 3 days after leaving Sinai (Nu 11:1) and people’s response to report of the spies.

I agree with Pam. I wept while listening to it at the conference and now every time I am alone I end up weeping every time and sometimes even have to pray on my face. It makes me so thankful that He chose me to be a part of His family.
For me this teaching went hand in hand with Brad Scott’s teaching on our responsibility to the world to pray this daily and live the torah so that we can be a part of its healing. My prayer life has been given new meaning and taken a whole new turn.
